During this difficult time of unsureness due to the Pandemic many have suffered from depression and isolation. Covid 19 negatively affected 93% of businesses’ bottom locally in Lincoln NE. Many businesses cut back on their hours and had to release employees to stay afloat. According to Gabriel, the George’s Gourmet Grill is a popular and are well known with the students here in Lincoln NE. Yes, they have altered work schedules and now have less employees. “People have come in crying and after having a conversation and good service they leave happier and with a smile,” said Gabriel. It’s their business philosophy that helps to keep people coming back Gabriel said “it's simple, just make people feel good when they come in.”
Although Covid 19 relating to businesses and some individuals may be improving with the lift of mandates. Nebraska business leaders and economic experts see 2-9% unemployment. It will still take time before we see a full recovery in the accommodations and food service industry. “Nebraska Public Media reports, that experts and business owners say wages may have to increase, and extra unemployment benefits may need to end to help fill the state’s empty jobs. Food service is where a lot of Covid 19 cases were found, and many quit their jobs for that reason.
KTIV.com, reports coronavirus has hurt a vast majority of Nebraska's businesses and about one in six of them are worried that it will force them to close their doors permanently. When Gabriel was asked, why didn’t you leave when the hours were cut, he said, “the business is like a family and family sticks together, no matter what.” However, the golden rule of the George’s Gourmet Grill is treating people as if they are special, can go a long way in good times and in difficult times.
